Great sushi place in the suburbs and conveniently located near work. My co-workers and I often frequent Kumo during our lunch break to take advantage of their specials: 2 rolls for around $9 and 3 rolls for just over $11 - really can't beat these amazing prices. Each roll listed under their lunch special is about 6 pieces so you can easily walk away feeling full without spending too much. They have the standard miso soup and salad with ginger dressing preceding your meal. For very health-conscious people, you can ask to substitute the white rice with brown rice for 50cents per roll. They have some vegetarian options but the selection is limited. There are only about 3 rolls on the menu without seafood so I'd be a little hesitant taking my vegetarian friends here for a meal. The place is never really busy. The ambiance is great; decor is sophisticated; and soft piano music plays in the background. It's odd to comment about the soundtrack of a restaurant but I find myself enamored with some of their music choices. Last time I went there, my co-worker and I overheard a piano cover of a Lady Gaga song from the speakers. It blew our minds and I'm still on the lookout for that piano medley. Oh and a note on the dessert, delicious tempura ice cream. We get it almost every time we dine at Kumo. When we celebrated a co-worker's birthday, they brought out a full-sized portion of the tempura ice cream with a lit candle for her ON THE HOUSE. Usually a restaurant will bring out a miniscule slice of cake, so their generosity was definitely a pleasant surprise.

I'm not a sushi snob, so I'll just say it was tasty... the real deal was the dinner box! Under $20 for a decent sized meal w/ soup, salad, cali roll, tempura, shumai, rice and chicken/beef/ or scallop.

It's not your typical "looks great estetically, but no real substance" kind of joint. Nothing but quality, fresh fish, in this modern, chic Japanese restaurant. The lunch specials are pretty legit. For $11.50 I chose the 3 three roll option, which came with a salad and miso soup. Each roll has six pieces. 18 cuts of fish came to just about the perfect lunch portion. - The salad wasn't anything fancy, but the miso soup had a good flavor. - Eel Avocado Roll - The eel was good, though the avocado was a bit weak, maybe just old. - Salmon Roll - Fresh cuts of salmon were delicious. - Spicy Tuna Roll - The best of the 3 rolls that I had. What I really enjoyed was the thin layer of crispy rice on the inside of the seaweed with a thin layer of white rice on the outside. It made for quite the tasty roll and if I come back, I might just order 3 of these. Not the best rolls that I've ever had, but still pretty solid and a worthwhile meal.

First time here. First impression, very nice, upscale, modern design. I liked the decor, and the tables were nicely spaced and not on top of each other. Was not crowded for a Friday night. Servers were very attentive, topping off our water glasses and checking on things. They all seemed to work well together as a team. Their timing was perfect. Very friendly and accommodating. Miso soup - very good, well balanced - 4/5 Black Spider Roll - so good and filling. Good value and fresh! - 5/5 Eel Sushi - 5/5 Tempura Red Bean Ice Cream - not normally a desert person but i had to try this. Amazingly delicious! 5/5 Quality - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Value - 4/5 Overall, a great first time experience and my new local sushi spot!

I went here while on some business. I had both Sashimi and a few Rolls. Everything was great! The service was extremely good as well. If I lived in the area I would be a regular here. My coworker ended up getting fried rice. He said it was very good as well. Give this place a try, I know I will be back for sure next time I am in the area.

Amazing!! Highly recommend this place for Asian cuisine lovers! We had an incredibly difficult time choosing what we wanted to order, because there were so many awesome choices! We will definitely be back soon! ()

Stopped in for a quick bite before shopping and had the salad topped with grilled beef appetizer, spicy shrimp roll, and salmon roll. Everything was amazing, fresh, flavorful. The salmon was gorgeous, lush chunks with just a light covering of rice. The spicy shrimp roll was so good I could eat it for dessert, not overpoweringly spicy and with a crisp finish under the rice layer. Absolutely delicious food in a beautiful space with friendly service, five-plus stars!

Really good sushi and sashimi. Except for Sun, they have lunch menu which is very good value. On Sun, it would be a bit too much food and pricey for lunch, and i recommend coming here for dinner instead. The fish is fresh and rice cooked perfectly. I highly recommend checking it out.

Love this place! Great, always fresh sushi. Comparable to Ooka & a bit better value. Great ingredients and all go together in their innovative special rolls. Freshest fish around. Only gave 4 stars because I've only ordered out, never ate at the restaurant itself. Definitely a restaurant to add to your "must haves" list!

The only thing that goes for them is the decor. Otherwise on Thursday night the service was slow and disorganized and the sushi was just as good as many discount places.

Found a bug in my food and told them about it. They tried to convinced me it's black sesame but black sesame don't have legs right? The bug I found and took a picture, clearly it had head and legs!

This is my "go to" sushi spot. I must say I come here once a week and it is always fresh and consistent. Oh and did I mention its BYBO?! I get the spicy maki combo which comes with 3 different rolls and a garden salad and miso soup all for only $16! Cant beat this deal. Plus they have outside seating which is a plus since there are no other sushi places around this area with outside seating. The place is very "center city" like inside. If you are getting take out or eating here you cannot go wrong.

Finding good quality sushi for reasonable prices is my lifelong mission; luckily Kumo comes close to achieving this. For dinner it may be a bit too pricey, but for lunch it's perfect. My usual is two rolls for $9.50 or three rolls for $10.50; both specials come with miso soup and a salad. They also have a great lunch box special with salad, california rolls, shrimp shumai and a choice of meat along with soup and salad for $10 or $11. Their special rolls are absolutely delicious but a bit pricier at $10 a roll. This is my favorite place to come with friends for lunch dates because of the modern decor and great sushi!

We had a wonderful dinner. Recommend the tuna fantastic as a starter. I have never seen tuna sliced so thin. The scallops teriyaki were delicious. The tempura was good but not something special. We will return.

This is an above average sushi place. Food is good. Atmosphere is clean and cool but a little dark. Have only ever gotten sushi, so I cannot comment on the cooked entrees. The reason for the 4 star is that there is a bit of lack in creativity. Most of the sushi rolls are all very similar... So they all tend to taste almost the same. Still, it's a nice place with good food, reasonably priced sushi that is worth the money. Will definitely continue to go to this place.

Pros: Attentive service, polite and quick. Prices are competitive. Cons: Food is edible, but not authentic Japanese. I have a Japanese background and I cannot find a place that cooks the way my grandmother did. The sushi was ok, but it lacked flavor. One of the sushis we ordered was the Crazy Roll. It was tasty but since it was a Kumo special, I didn't eat it with the expectation that it was going to be "real Japanese". The soup and salad were good, but standard. I ordered the chicken hibachi- the chicken was tough and the sauce was tasteless. My husband had the chicken teriyaki and wasn't impressed. My daughter had the shrimp tempura appetizer and liked it, but all you have to do is batter and fry it at the right temperature. Really there's nothing that you can do wrong to it. If you want a nice place with atmosphere, this is an ok place to go. It did have good service. If you're looking for an authentic Japanese place, I wouldn't recommend this.

We go here all the time. We have only ordered sushi and it's all been great. The rolls are big and the prices are great for the size of the sushi. It's BYOB. They always have coupons online as well. The staff is always nice and prompt with the service. We usually go on Friday nights and it's never too busy. We have never made a reservation and always get seated right away. I know that is both a positive and a negative but I'm telling you this is so much better and cheaper then the Ooka down the road. Have a great time!

Went here for lunch, and it was a phenomenal experience! Like everyone else has said, it looks somewhat unassuming from the outside, but on the inside it's elegant and inviting. The lunch menu had anything you could ask for: sushi specials, bento boxes, noodle dishes, etc. I chose to go with the unbeatable 3-roll lunch special ($11.95, including soup and salad.) The soup and salad were tasty. I've had better of both, but they were still a welcome addition. The three rolls I ordered: Spicy Tuna, Eel Avocado, and Salmon Tempura. All three were incredibly delicious, flavorful, and fresh. I couldn't get enough. Lastly, the service was great. My water glass was never too empty, and my hot green tea was always kept warm. Can't wait to return!

Went for dinner. The rating is actually 3 1/2 stars. Ordered Hamachi (yellow tail tuna) nigiri to test the quality of the fish which was good, however the rice was hard which is okay as a side to your entree but NOT for sushi. For the entree, I had the Hibachi Chicken. Very generous portions and was quite good with a decent mix of veggies. I liked the ginger dipping sauce that came with it. The prices are very reasonable esp. for a Japanese restaurant.

I was in the area and needed to pick up some sushi in a hurry. I called when I was about five minutes away and overall everything took around ten minutes from the time I placed the order to when I picked it up. I ordered two rolls and was pleasantly surprised at how fresh everything tasted. Only downside was that the rice was uneven and some of the rolls ended up falling apart a bit. Still tasted great. Will be going back here.

Kumo is a find. The atmosphere is cool and inviting. The sushi is fresh and tasty. The service really is the only thing lacking here. While they are very nice and professional, they are very slow. A few Latino hires should fix this right away. Trust me...I'm Latino. The rolls are slightly different than most other sushi bars. And that difference works. We had a Spicy Girl Roll that included spicy salmon, tuna, yellowtail and avocado. The secret sauce make it rock. I always use Tako as the gauge of a sushi bar. It's either going to be tough like rubber, or soft and good to eat. Kumo's Tako is the closest to good Tako I've had in the suburbs. (Best Tako in the country is at Yoshida in San Marino, Ca) Try Kumo. You'll like it.

beautiful woman and i yelped and made the journey... we sushi a lot and have a few favorite places so ordinary wouldnt do we pretty much had the place to ourselves...the server was attentive without being annoying and was helpful miso - can either be good or ok and this batch was good alligator rolls lovers hot spicy tuna all of the above were fresh and tasty. if i lived around here i would go due to its proximity - but there are others that i prefer

The atmosphere is modern, the service is good- and most importantly the sushi is AMAZING! Very good rice, fresh fish, and ripe avocados. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality of sushi. All and all I don't have a negative thing to say about the place. Usually they are very friendly and accommodating!

Overall, I liked Kumo. The decor of this place is really great. Very trendy.... chic. It was strange that it was quite dead though. I like my veggie sushi. The pickled daikon rolls were good. I really like the avocado rolls. Delicious. My friends also enjoyed their appetizers and meals. This place is BYOB, which is kind of inconvenient if you're from out of town. Maybe this is the reason for low traffic?

Mmm... their sushi is fresh and high quality. They also have brown rice, if you prefer it. I don't think it costs extra either. I had the rainbow roll and eel cucumber roll. Both were very good. I also requested extra ginger, and they gave me a generous portion.

Ive been to Kumo twice and have left fat and happy both times. The decor is gorgeous (I've actually gotten ideas for my apartment!) and the service is friendly and attentive. Working in NY, I've had enough excellent and not-so-excellent (ugh) sushi that i'm pretty picky. Kumo defs falls in the excellent category. First time we went was right after it opened because we had a coupon. They didn't give us a hard time about using it and yes, we tipped on the pre-discount amount because they deserved it. Played it semi-safe with Philadelphia and Spicy Tuna rolls and was very pleased. Rice was sticky but not glue-y and fish was fresh and generously cut. Went again yesterday with a larger group and for the variety of food on the table, everyone seemed happy. The one complaint was that the edamame was over-salted but who cares, we had a giant bottle of wine and were thirsty anyway. BTW, YES, it is BYOB. Again, they're really cool about it and treated our economy sized bottle of Barefoot Vineyards wine with more reverence than it rightly deserved. Had the shrimp and veg tempura - well cooked, light and crunchy batter, not greasy, and a Sunshine Roll. Good goodness SweetBabyJesus, If I ever get married I don't need a ring, just need a promise of a Sunshine Roll every Friday for the rest of my life.

I can't believe it took me so long to come here! It's kinda ridiculous, considering how close this place is to where I live -___-; sigh. At least I finally went though, right? Anyways, my mother & I were really hungry one afternoon and craving some yummy japanese food. We decided to go to Kumo after we've been saying how we were gonna go all this time. I am really pleased with Kumo. The service, the interior, the food. Love it! The servers are really kind/friendly. In addition, I wasn't aware Kumo gives you 2 appetizers (miso soup + house salad) prior to your order! That was also a pleasant surprise :-) My mom ordered some sushi rolls. I ended up ordering a chicken teriyaki bento box. We were planning on ordering some seaweed salad, but b/c we already were full from the appetizers, we decided to get it next time. My mom was pleased with her rolls and i was more than pleased with my bento box! It was huge, so my mom and i shared most of it. I'm f'sho coming here next time with friends. Kumo's got themselves a fan :-)

I was unsure what to expect of their sushi since it was located in the middle of some shopping center... I was impressed with their modern decor.. I liked the citrus lime colors with the dark browns... everyone in our party enjoyed their sushi and entrees ... wouldn't mind going again :)

My sister originally introduced me to Kumo and I am so happy she did! It is the best place to get sushi, so fresh and really different flavors than most I've had. The atmosphere is laid back and it has such a nice ambiance to it. Nothing but friendly and accommodating staff. Go here!

You'd never guess this place used to be a Starbucks! I forgot I was in the English Village Shopping Center as soon as I walked in. The decor is very cool--trendy and urban--yet still comfortable and casual. You'd be fine going in decent jeans or getting a little more dressed up . . . either way you won't feel out of place (just don't go looking like a slob). Perfect for date night or a meal with friends. The staff was friendly and helpful but the real draw was the food, which was outstanding and well worth the visit. The menu features a long list of rolls made from unique combinations of ingredients. We even tried one roll topped with banana tempura and somehow they made the flavors work. The presentation is really nice as well. And for those of you not into sushi or raw shellfish, there are plenty of other options on the menu, including Teriyaki & hibachi style meals as well as lots of noodle dishes. For dessert we tried the ice cream tempura and chocolate bomb, which were both pretty yummy, but you might as well skip the sweets since they aren't the main attraction and head over to Maggie Moo's to satisfy your cravings after dinner! We will definitely be going back to try more dishes and hope Kumo is here to stay.

Oh scallop teriyaki dinner box, where have you been all my life? I agree, Kumo is a wonderful find after experiencing chain after chain after more chain restaurants. I'm an escapist, I am :-) Kumo serves generous portions of scallops in its dinner box, and boy were they addicting! I am a scallops-eating fiend, and I think thst Kumo completely satisfied my scallops craving. The dinner box gave me a well-rounded meal for $19. Lots of scallops and then some for that price? Really, consider that! :-) I recommended Kumo to my sushi-crazed sister, and she had a massive lunch coma after eating ther with a friend one day. Haha, Kumo is rubbing off of me!

Excellent sushi! We recently moved to PA from AZ and we are big Foodies! We just love eating out at good restaurants. We have been coming to Kumos almost weekly for the last 4 months and there sushi has always been consistently great! They have lots of special rolls and wonderful sashimi. There tuna is delish. My favorite rolls are the Manhattan and the Spicy Girl..yum The service is good, friendly and quick. The decor is modern and very pretty but no sushi bar. This place would be just about perfect but like most restaurants in PA it's BYO. We do miss the social atmosphere found in Scottsdale AZ where you could have a dink with friends at the sushi bar. Other than that we do love Kumo and highly recommend it.

I'd say 4.5 stars for the first visit, this is really a top-notch sushi spot. Decor is extra zen/contemporary, service was great, and sushi was definitely recommended. And friend and I destroyed a sushi boat together, all the fish and rolls were excellent and fresh. I'll also rave about the appetizer we got even though I can hardly remember everything that was in it. I do recall it had banana which seemed an unlikely addition to sushi but it was fantastic! Everything you could ask for from a sushi restaurant really, food was fresh, well presented, and absolutely delicious!

We get a lot of menu's taped to our door in the M. Household. Sometimes they feature dragon clip art, or studio photographs of chicken parmesan; on Red Letter Occasions one might have a cartoon panda and make its way into the Kid's sticky little hands. But usually it's straight to the recycle. So when one showed up from Kumo, I only gave it the most cursory of glances. I was quickly seduced by all of the pictures of the sushi rolls. I know some purists don't dig on rolls, but I think they're fun. When Yelp confirmed that it wasn't just another pretty face with stock images of delightfully adorable rolls.... I was hooked. I've been greedily thumbing through it Sears WishBook style for about two weeks now. For Mother's Day, I deviated from my standard "New Sushi Joint Protocol" and ordered not only the sushi/sashimi combo but also a Spicy Girl Roll. The Sushi and Sashimi was very very fresh and extremely high quality. There was also a ton of it. The portion meant to feed one could have easily fed two individuals to split with some additions. AND I had the Spicy Girl, which was an amazing combo of spicy yellow tail, tuna, and salmon rolls. DH doesn't eat sushi, (I know... I know... trust me, in all other respects he's awesome) so I had the happy problem of some leftover sushi for the next day. Happy Mother's Day to Me! Can't wait to go back.

Passed by here and decided to grab a few rolls to go nice I was in a rush. I had the alligator and ocean rolls. The fish was fresh, the portions generous, and service fast. The alligator roll was your typical salmon ad avocado with tempura and eel. But t was delicious all the same. I just loved the ocean roll with salmon, tuna, avocado, roe, and lobster salad, drizzled with yuzu. Even the rice had just the perfect amount of sweetness. I will definitely be back soon to try more of the menu.

Kumo is my favorite sushi place in the area. The service is quick, the food is delicious, and I really like the ambiance. I've tried a wide variety of the food that they offer, and I was pleased that they had quite a few vegetarian options!

The place is really modern looking with a small deck area where you can eat outside. It's pretty roomy inside which is great for me since it makes it wheelchair-accessible. I ordered the calamari and some special spicy salmon roll they had. Both were really good, although I was kind of expecting the sushi portions to be a little larger. I wasn't sure how much salmon was in it but it seemed more like there was more tuna than salmon. Overall, the sushi is pretty good. I did order the ice cream tempura for dessert and it was good, but doesn't hold a candle to the one I had way back when in Australia when I was little :( The only little hiccup I noticed was that the waitress gave me my bill right as I was about to ask for dessert. I kinda felt like she was trying to rush me out of the place a little. It was a small thing that kinda took me aback. All in all, this is a nice place that would make a wonderful spot for a date. If you're by yourself, there are other spots in the area that are just as good but easier on the wallet :)

Enjoyed dinner Saturday night 1/24/2010. The decor of this restaurant is contemporary and includes several panel TVs and the atmosphere is set with some club music. One noticeable and slightly concerning aspect of the layout is that there is no seating at the actual sushi bar. However, the offerings crafted by the chefs alleviate any concerns that this is anything but a legit sushi joint. The four of us were seated promptly, but were not acknowledged by a server for what seemed like 15 to 20 minutes. In fact, the first time we were approached was by the manager, who came over to apologize for the wait and offer us complimentary sake - which we enjoyed. The food: We started with the White Tuna Fusion app., which was white tuna sashimi with a sweet jelly sauce. Very good. For the main course we ordered a sashimi for two entree, Spicy Girl Roll, Lobster Roll, Ocean Roll, and Godzilla Roll. The presentation of the sashimi was pretty cool, as it was on a big bowl of ice with a glowing blue ball thing and some vegetation. However, the ice cooled the sashimi down to a point were it was actually losing some flavor. And the pieces themselves were tiny, some of the smallest I've ever been served - making the $44 price seem lofty. With the rolls, every one was fantastic in all aspects; creativity, execution, and presentation. The total, with tip and excluding the $10 coupon we had, would have been $150 for a party of four, so price is a little on the high side. And, sadly, they are in the process of acquiring their liquor license, which will probably place this establishment out of the "normal" rotation for a good many diners.

Maybe some of the best sushi in the area. Plus, ice cream tempura!!!

  • Aaron T.

Meh... Probably deserves three stars, but service was slow getting started. Most special rolls will run you $13+. The four stars most other diners give this place is too generous. Its just another example of a typical overpriced suburban sushi joint.

Tried Kumo for first time last night and will definitely be back again. The fish in all of the sushi and sashimi we selected was wonderfully fresh and beautifully prepared. Highly recommend the yellowtail, salmon, red clam and the spider roll. The service is outstanding, attentive but not overbearing.

The rolls are fantastic. If you want some quality rolls, filled with fresh sushi fish and a ton of variety, this is the place to go. I'm a huge roll fanatic and i love variety. Ordered the alligator roll which they topped with HUGE pieces of eel and packed with salmon on the inside. Tiger roll was good...it had banana tempura on the outside and shrimp tempura on the inside...unique taste...and amazing tuna which had spicy tuna on the outside and a white tuna tempura cooked just right, still slightly raw on the inside to give it that chewy, soft yet crunchy tempura taste. Topped it off with a sushi pizza which was fantastic...salmon melted in my mouth...yummm Rolls aside. ...the ambiance was surprisingly extremely upscale...dark setting, wine bottles line the entrance...my date loved it...definately no sparing attention to detail here. Great rolls that are a ton of fun...ambiance to impress the ladies....I'm definately going back.

Very good Asian food and sushi. The atmosphere is nice and inviting. Service is also always excellent. We typically go for lunch as prices are much more reasonable and you can basically get the same menu. Their lunch boxes are a great deal at $10 and include miso soup and salad. Love their ginger dressing on their salads. Their Pad Thai is good and so are most of the sushi rolls. Place is BYOB so feel free to bring sake or some wine to drink w/ your meal

One of my favorite sushi places. Very warm and modern decor. Typically good service, but can be a little slow if they're moderately busy. Anything from the normal rolls to very inventive rolls. Everything is extremely fresh. Best shrimp tempura I have ever had. This place is very consistent.

I come to Kumo for lunch often. This is my favorite sushi place ever and the $9.50 2 roll special is really good. I have not had a roll I didn't like at Kumo. The staff is very friendly and the service is quick for the lunch time rush. The hibachi is good as well.

This is one the best restaurants for sushi and Asian cuisine i have ever been to. The food was delicious, the service was spot-on, and the price was right. For just $10 I received a house salad, miso soup, and two sushi rolls of my choice, which was plenty to fill me up for lunch. If I had to make any complaint it would be that this interior is very dark, with black walls, chairs, and dark furniture. On sunny afternoon, it was ok, but I feel on a cloudier day it may be harder to see and almost too dark. It does however provide a cozy, almost secluded atmosphere, which might be ideal for a date night. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Went there for lunch. Very reasonably priced, nice atmosphere, and the sushi was very good. The other dishes, one udon and Pad Thai, were a bit on the bland side. Maybe they just don't use much salt. But I would happily go back. Good value overall.

I really like this place. The decor is fabulous. The staff are attentive. The food is really, really good. Have had the bento box, teriyaki dinner and the sushi. Have been there 2x, and have been happy with all aspects of my dinner. Would recommend this restaurant as one of the best Asian restaurants in the 'burbs.

LOVED their California Roll - I can't describe what was different about it from other cali rolls, but it was somehow much much more delicious and very fresh tasting. I loved their variety of cooked rolls, and raw. I will definitely be back to Kumo!!!

Dined here last night with my husband and three young children. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the service was impeccable! My 8 year daughter tends to be very picky with food so when I asked the waitress if they had a simple chicken and white rice dish she stated that they did not but would be happy to make a simple chicken nugget like dish for her. She enoyed her meal very much! My husband and I started out with the combo raw oyster and clam appetizer and it was by far the BEST I have ever had anywhere! It was made with a soy based sauce, green onions and fish roe on top - delicious! I enjoyed my fire roll and my husband his dragon roll. We enjoyed the fact that Kumo was a BYOB however the waitress offered us complimentary sake after we inquired as to whether or not they served alcohol. All in all a great dining experience...would definately return again!

I had never been here before, but I was craving pad thai, so I called in a to-go order. Price came to $13, which is steep in my opinion. Got home, opened my bag and saw that there was a salad with peanut sauce. That was a nice surprise, but unfortunately the pad thai was flavorless and did not meet my craving. Definitely the worst I've ever had. No heat, no spice, hardly any sprouts. I'm currently soaking my noodles in sriracha and wishing I had tried some place else. In there defense, it seems like much more of a sushi place. I would be willing to try their sushi...

Absolutely love Kumo, fish is always fresh, prices are totally reasonable. I've literally never had a bad meal here. Love the oysters, rock shrimp, salads are crisp and fresh and ginger dressing is perfect. Great miso soup. American Sashimi is my staple dish, although I absolutely love the Hot Dancing Tuna roll as well. Roe is never too fishy, which is a big deal for me as I find that when it's off, a beautiful roll is inedible. Option is available to do soy paper wrap in lieu of seaweed, which I sometimes prefer. This is a pretty standard accommodation at good Japanese restaurants, though. Oh, and love that it's a BYOB. Just as good as Ooka and better value. Our favorite sushi restaurant.

Kumo is the corner restaurant I've always been looking for. A seriously respectful homage to the old ways of Japanese cuisine, and a true understanding of modernism.Kumo has integrated both, creating an authentic Japanese feel in modern climate. There are so many original dishes here, and these experiments are successful. The sushi pizza is to die for. Best of all, Kumo is humble about its pricing. This isn't the absolute best sushi I've ever had, but it's absolutely the best sushi I can afford, and the more expensive sushi elsewhere really isn't that much better. You won't find a more attentive and humble staff anywhere. Come to Kumo they deserve your business, and you deserve their food.

Love the service here! Whenever I have a bad day, I love coming here and getting a few rolls, sipping some green tea and receiving excellent service with a smile!

Great selection of specialty rolls, far more then any other sushi restaurants in the are. Everything we ordered was fresh and had a great presentation. Very reasonably priced and it's a BYOB on top of that! One person in our group opted for the dinner box which she thoroughly enjoyed and was probably enough for two dinners, not to mention it came with Miso soup and salad before it came out. Friendly Staff and the fried ice cream is a great end to sushi that you can share (its large). The only reason I didn't give this five stars is I wish the fish for the sushi was more chilled. I know personal preference but the Sushi was still fresh and excellent.

A good go-to BYO sushi place. We've gone a number of times over the past few years and overall its quite consistent. There are standouts for me, like the spicy girl roll, however many of the other rolls we've tried are ok, but not remarkable. The shrimp and veggie tempura sometimes comes out with cold shrimp and hot veggies - leading me to believe it was pre made and not fresh. Service is just ok, new servers take some time to ramp up. A good solid choice, and reasonable prices. Not the quality of Ooka up the street, but not the prices either.

Consistency is key to a good sushi place and what I've experienced time after time from Kumo. If you live near the English Village shopping center its a must try! I frequently stop here after work for takeout and get some of their more traditional cheaper rolls - philly, alaskan, sweet potato, eel avocado, spicy salmon etc, Always quick and always the same great food. This is where I had my first sweet potato roll and now I'm hooked! Price - Very reasonable for the sushi rolls all under $7 and the specialty rolls are most all around $12 or $13.

We went on a Saturday afternoon and were able to take advantage of the lunch specials. First of all, it's great that a restaurant even offers lunch specials on a Saturday, because this is rare. We ordered four rolls: the Black Dragon, Tiger, Party and Kumo rolls. All of the sushi rolls we ordered were delicious. The Black Dragon has deep fried crabmeat and was topped with eel. The Tiger Roll had eel, crabmeat and was topped with fried banana, which provided that sweet and savory taste. The Party Roll had fresh mango, crabmeat and lobster salad and was topped with crunchy tempura. The Kumo was lightly fried with eel and crabmeat inside and seaweed on the outside. As I'm writing this review, I realize each roll we ordered had crabmeat. That was not the intention, but I am not complaining. The service was really fast, considering we went for lunch around 1:30pm and there were only two other tables being served in the restaurant. The restaurant itself is very nice and modern looking. I think I've find a go-to sushi spot in Montgomery County.

The positive: The iceberg lettuce in the salad was very crisp. The not so positive: My wasabi*, rather than being uniform in color, was topped with a dark crust and if you can't handle wasabi properly I do not care to risk my health by consuming your raw fish. The waitress retorted that while the wasabi had been left out the fish was kept covered so it was okay to eat. I finally just picked-up my plate and hand it back to her. A few minutes later they tried to reserve the same plate with an updated green dollop. I again explained my reticence to consume a raw fish product given the unfortunate wasabi incident five minutes previous. Also: Piss poor service devoid of personality, rhythm or even adequateness. Out of some menu items. Miso was very bland, watery even. Curry blah in taste and appearance. Near the entrance is a display featuring wine bottles but they don't serve alcohol. *The ersatz concoction of dried mustard, green food coloring and grated horseradish that is generally accepted as wasabi by American diners.

I took my 2 sixteen-year old granddaughters to Kumo for lunch. The one who wants to be an interior designer loved the decor in addition to the food. The other who is a sushi-connoisseur loved the rolls we ordered. We ordered quite a few so that we could take some home for their parents to try. We ordered (among others) the Alligator Roll: delicious eel, salmon and avocado; the Godzilla Roll had spicy tuna and a yummy sauce to top it off. The girls especially liked the Manhattan Roll: shrimp tempura, cucumber and spicy tuna and the Lover's Roll: spicy tuna, eel, avocado wrapped with soy seaweed in a delicious sauce. My favorites were the Crazy Roll, the Kumo Roll, and the Volcano Roll: fresh, crunchy and yummy. Additionally, the lunch prices are typically two to three dollars cheaper per roll than the dinner prices: what a bargain! Kumo has become our favorite sushi restaurant and we look forward to going back frequently.

Sushi is delicious and nicely portioned. Sometimes for the price of sushi they come so small it seems not worth it, but here I've actually struggled to even finish a roll in one sitting! That being said, good prices for good sushi.

I did not know that Horsham PA is known for their sushi and sashimi. With all kidding aside, this is definitely a good find. I cannot believe the quality of the sushi here. Even better than some of the places that I've bee to in NYC. Just go and taste for yourself. I will just keep my mouth shut and you can tell me whether you agree or not.

Took my Wife and kids to dinner to celebrate her birthday. The food was good. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. However, the service was terrible. Spilled water on my pants in the beginning and said sorry. "its only water". While serving our dinners she passed all dishes from one end of the table to each of us, in front of our faces while eating apps, etc. While doing so, she spilled a sauce all over my shirt and my wife's dress. She left and brought back a wet cloth and said here & sorry. My dish suffered a direct hit from the sauce. She removed it and brought a "new" one back in 90 seconds. It wasn't new. They just took a quarter of it away, and brought back a smaller portion. The server was rushing service and we suffered the pain by it, with no discount on the food, let alone an apology from management. Doubtful we'll be back anytime soon.

I have only been here twice. My first visit was over a year ago when I had just moved back to the area, around the holidays. I order a sushi roll, And I hated it. Maybe i came on a bad night, I don't know. I did order some shrimp pad Thai for my husband to go. When I got home and ate it, I was upset that I didn't order it for myself!! Needless to say, he had to share, he had no choice. Came back on Wednesday because I had a procedure done at Lansdale hospital and I was starving afterwards. Ordered the shrimp pad Thai and the shrimp vegetable rice. Very generous portion sizes and very delicious! The sauce on the pad Thai is the perfect balance in my opinion! Will continue to come back for Thai food, I'd avoid the sushi though, but that's just me....

A great spot for takeout and dinning in! The food is always spot on and the decor is gorgeous! I have tried, and loved, the shrimp shumai, Godzilla roll, tempura udon, and the generals chicken (which comes with delicious soup and salad). To top it off the staff is always very friendly! I am definitely a repeat customer.

This was A-OK. My first visit, nice atmosphere, ambiance and a very clean dining room for this strip center BYOB. A big takeout business with very fresh sashimi. The sushi rolls were OK, not bad, but could have been rolled tighter as they kept falling apart. And their prices are reasonable compared to Ooka up the road. It's nice to have this place as a new go-to in my neighborhood.

So pretty on the inside. Amazing sushi (best at dinner time). Bad service usually. Worth it for the good sushi though. Love it.

Yea, it was good. Pretty decor. Skip the sweet potato tempura. Just slices of sweet potato dipped in light tempura and fried. Served with a fairly tasteless sauce. The chef's special rolls were very good though. Had the Geronimo Roll and my husband had the black spider rolls. It's BYOB, don't forget.

Sushi is good. Good deals at lunch. The service is always just horrible. And who chargers for refills anymore? Come on! If it weren't for the terrible service they would get a 5/5 in my book

Awesome sushi - but the pad Thai was really terrible and flavorless. I really hope they made a mistake because if this is their regular pad Thai it's inedible.

Nice atmosphere, clean, waitresses were friendly but wasn't all that impressed with the sushi. My go to local sushi joint is UMAI in lansdale, which is amazing but you pay a little more for it. What is great about KUMO is their lunch specials(even on saturdays!). For about 10 bucks I chose two rolls got a salad, and miso soup. I liked their spicy tuna roll and the yellowtail scallion was just ok. You can choose to have 1,2, or 3 rolls in your lunch special. Or you can get a special roll for $10 which is cheap. Better than the sushi I like the agedashi tofu which had the perfect texture and was piping hot when it came out. I think next time I'll try a bento box. I'm not really a fan of places that go too crazy on their rolls trying to come up with crazy combos and what not. A simple rainbow roll, or dragon roll will do just fine! Also a bonus - it's BYOB. If you're from this area I wanna say it's similar to Vic's sushi, nothing fancy, or knock your socks off but better than supermarket sushi. If you like KUMO - go try UMAI : ) The fish is incredibly fresh, and the rolls are beautiful and delicious!

I go to Kumo once a month, it is my favorite place. Was just there again and no disappointments. My dad and I always get the raw oysters to start and split sushi for two which also comes with miso soup and salad. My husband gets the chicken tempura and says it's great. The oysters.... Yum yum yum! I really enjoy the way they are prepared. The amount of sushi we get is always more than enough and the variety is good and changes often. I definitely recommend Kumo, the servers are incredibly nice and always make a big deal over my toddler son.
